UK SRS Scope 3 · Now mandatory from Jan 2027

Your AI uses carbon.
KAIRBON routes it away.

One line of code. Every API call routed to the lowest-carbon region. Scope 3 compliance report generated automatically — ready for UK SRS, SECR, and ECGT.

Three things happen with every inference call

KAIRBON sits between your code and the model provider. No SDK to install. No new dependencies. Just a URL.

1

Route to lowest carbon

Each request is routed to the cloud region with the lowest live carbon intensity — data updated every 5 minutes from the grid. Same model, different region, dramatically less carbon.

2

Log carbon in real time

Every request records the region served, grams of CO₂ equivalent, and carbon avoided. Visible in your dashboard immediately. Queryable via API. Your data, your export.

3

Generate compliance report

At any time, export a ready-to-file UK SECR / SRS Scope 3 report covering all 15 GHG Protocol categories relevant to your AI workloads. Your ESG team stops asking. You stop guessing.

What KAIRBON sees — and what it never does

The first question every ML engineer asks. Here is the precise answer.

📦

What KAIRBON sees

The destination endpoint, the model name, the token count, and the timestamp. Exactly the same metadata a CDN or load balancer sees when it routes any HTTPS request.

model · token_count · region · timestamp
🔒

What KAIRBON never sees

Your prompt. Your response. Your API key payload. KAIRBON is a routing proxy — it never opens the request body. The payload travels encrypted end-to-end between your code and the model provider.

prompt_text → never stored, never read
🏗️

Same architecture as Cloudflare

KAIRBON uses the same "packet visible, payload never" model that every major CDN and API gateway uses. The packet header tells the router where to send it. The contents stay sealed.

🇬🇧

UK data residency

All metadata logs are stored in UK data centres. KAIRBON is registered in England and Wales, operates under UK GDPR, and processes no personal data from request bodies.

🔐

Packet visible. Payload never.
KAIRBON routes the envelope, not the letter. Your prompts remain encrypted and unread between your infrastructure and your model provider.

The regulatory clock is already running

UK SRS final rules were published 30 September 2026. Around 600 listed UK companies are now in scope. Scope 3 reporting — including AI inference — is mandatory.

ECGT takes effect
The Empowering Consumer Green Transitions directive bans unsubstantiated environmental claims. "AI-powered sustainability" needs data behind it.

January 2027
UK SRS Scope 3 mandatory
Accounting periods beginning on or after 1 Jan 2027 must include Scope 3 under UK SRS S2, including purchased goods and services — which covers AI inference.

First reports filed
Companies file their first UK SRS reports. Those without AI carbon data will either explain the gap or scramble to fill it.
📊

SECR — already applies

UK Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting applies to large UK companies today. AI inference energy use sits under Scope 2 and Scope 3. KAIRBON provides the per-workload data SECR auditors ask for.

🤖

AI inference is Scope 3

Under GHG Protocol Category 1 (purchased goods and services), compute consumed via third-party API — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google — is a Scope 3 emission. No existing tool provides this data automatically at request level. KAIRBON does.
